The Air Cadet program is funded by the Department of National Defence and the basic program is offered at no charge.
The Air Cadet League of Canada is a civilian organization that augments and partners with the Department of National Defence to enhance the cadet program by supplying powered aircraft, gliders, band equipment, training courses and many other activities. In order to fund these items, the Squadron asks for an annual SSC assessment upon enrollment at the start of each year. |
2024 - 2025 SSC Assessments
There are very few costs to join and participate in the Air Cadet program. In order to keep the costs as low as possible there is an expectation of participation in fundraising activities. There is an annual SSC assessment of $225.00 per cadet at 243 Ogopogo Squadron. Payment can be made on initial enrollment and at the beginning of each training year (September) thereafter. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, or Interac e-transfer. Families that may experience difficulties in payment or financial hardship should speak to a member of the Sponsoring Committee. No Cadet will be turned away from the program due to financial reasons. Cadet uniforms and nearly all cadet activities are provided at no additional cost to the cadets including 2, 3, 6 and 7-week summer training courses (in fact cadets are paid a $60/week training bonus while at summer training!). |
