Summer Training is an optional part of the Air Cadet Program, These courses offer more in-depth study and experience in a variety of different subject areas and builds off of the training that is conducted at the Squadron. Air Cadets may apply for courses in physical fitness, drill and ceremonial, aviation, aviation technology, air crew survival, marksmanship and music. Summer courses progress in scope and difficulty, and the intermediate and advanced level courses require pre-requisites of completing certain training levels.
There are two main types of summer training courses: National and Non-National courses. Non-National courses are offered in each region of Canada and cadets compete against other cadets in the region for a spot on course. For a spot on a National course, cadets must compete against cadets from across the country through an intensive application and interview process.
Changes to Summer 2021
Further information around the Summer 2021 has been:
We will be providing detailed guidance over the coming weeks as it's made available. -- Some of the options we are currently exploring include: Cadet Activity Programs (CAP) during spring break and the summer, virtual courses, hybrid courses (some virtual and in-person components), and in-person CTC courses. All options are subject to change based on the continually evolving situation. We are planning to offer in-person CTC courses, if the situation allows, but it won’t look the same as we were used to. We will be adjusting to be able to adhere to local PHMs and guidelines. The planning priority will be placed on courses that effect the capability of providing quality localized training programs.
